The world is smaller then you think

My husband I decided to get away and have some couple time. We chose to go to the little town of San Simeon off the California Coast. It's not as big as Pismo but has a ton of charm. The moment we arrived we dumped our bags in the room and headed for the beach. I don't know what it is about the ocean but it instantly calms me. We walked a ways down the shore, climbing over rocks and cliffs to stay out of the high tide. Somewhere along the shore we stumbled upon a canister covered in sea life.

Chicken Piccata

I love this dish! I love the tart flavor of the lemon contrasting with the salt from the capers. Pair this with garlic green beans and some garlic bread and I am in heaven.

Chicken with Creamy Jalapeño Sauce

This happens to be one of my favorite comfort foods. I serve it over Fiesta Side Salad. The best thing about it is it really is not that bad for you. It also freezes wonderfully. I usually make a double batch and save some in 1 serving containers to take to work.

Mom’s Buttermilk Biscuits

We are a biscut family, biscuts and gravy, biscuts and jam, biscuts, biscuts, biscuts. My mother found this recipe in a long lost cookbook. We usually double it and freeze the left over dough. You can make these in a cake pan or on a cookie sheet.

Chicken Marsala

Chicken, mushrooms, marshlal wine...yummy.

Be a good person and the rest will follow

I receive an immense amount of email. I will check in the morning and have 9 messages by the time I get to work it has ballooned to 50. Of those emails, half are from friends. Forwards of forwards. With in that 50%, 25% are funny, 25% are interesting, 25% are updates on family and life and the last 25% are the most irritating and treacherous filth to enter my inbox. They are the blanket statement about a certain group of people emails. These emails PISS ME OFF.

Reno Trip

This will have been my third trip to Reno NV and Tahoe. We decided to stay at the Silver Legacy this time. We usually stay at a hotel far from the main casino strip and end up walking the five miles to get to the action. It was nice to be able to step right out the hotel lobby into the bustling night life. Although when you go to Reno on a Wednesday the night life is a little more muted until Friday.

We had a good time, did some exploring and shopping. Over all it was a good trip. pictures below. Not too many as I kept forgetting the camera.

Day Trip to Tenaya Lake in Yosemite

Yesterday we woke at 6:00 am and were on our way up the hill to Yosemite to beat the heat by 8:00 am. We went the Mariposa route as there was road construction via the Hwy 41 route. BY the time we reached Tenaya Lake at 12:00 the temperature had dropped to 65 degrees and there were still patches of snow on the ground. It was great. The weather was perfect, the water crystal clear and the scenery amazing. It is a surreal feeling floating in a kayak in the middle of a lake that you can almost see the bottom of.
