My family loves waffles and this is a good basic recipe. I ussually double the recipe and make a big batch. I freeze the leftovers so they can pop them in the toaster and have waffles any time they want. They also make great breakfast sandwiches when used instead of an english muffin or bread.
Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's directions.
In a medium bowl whisk together the flours, soda, baking powder, salt and sugar. In another bowl beat together eggs and melted butter and then add the buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until combined. Allow to rest for 5 minutes.
Ladle the recomended amount of waffle batter onto the iron. Close the iron top and cook until waffle is golden brown on both sides. Serve immediately, keep warm in a 200 degree F oven or freeze for toaster waffles.
